NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
