NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
