No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
