No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
