Stu Ungar is considered by most to the very best NL Holdem Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and began betting poker before reaching his teens.

The young bettor began betting gin and at the age of ten had won his first gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the little poker genius had become a professional and stopped going to school.

In ‘54 Stu entered the history books by succeeding $10,000 in a gin rummy tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still appears in New York these days.

The quick speaking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic superstars like Joe Namath and Kobe Bryant. Stu Ungar had a real talent for betting poker but despite his achievements in Texas holdem poker, he favored betting gin.

Stu once said that there may some day be a much better NL Holdem gambler than him except he could not see how anyone could ever be a better gin gambler.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the ideal Texas hold em Poker gamblers in the entire world when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the first time. Astonishingly it was the very first time he had played in the tournament.

The subsequent year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been luck, by successfully protecting his crown. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker master also fought with drug abuse and a year after succeeding his 3rd title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to medical professionals, he had passed away from a heart attack which was brought on by his lifestyle.

Stu had began with absolutely nothing but his skill and natural talent for the casino game which made this poker fantastic a millionaire numerous times over.
